MONTSENY: NEW INHABITANTS – One Day Hike

One Day Hike

The “Montseny” mountains range is a Protected Natural Area, and a very representative spot of the catalan identity as well. Today, new inhabitants are repopulating it, respectfully and with a high ecological consciousness, fruit of the esteem for the land they live in.

We will make a circular route to know this amazing environment. Former iron mines, a monumental  holm oak and a visit to a family of “new inhabitants”, that will offer us a real organic-friendly lunch with local and organic products.

The journey starts 8:30 at the meeting point in Barcelona. Your guide will take you, in an air-conditioned vehicle, to a village just 40 km from Barcelona, inside Montseny area. Once in the Natural Park you’ll begin your walk through a leafy path along a stream and begin a gentle climb.

We will see some “masies” (tipical catalan country houses) so that you can imagine how life was like during the last 5 centuries. Montseny has a very unique fauna and flora. We will find a Romanesque shrine, and a monumental Holm oak, with an incredible size and shade.

After visiting  a small cave that used to be an iron mine, we’ll arrive at a “masia”, now transformed into a place for travelers that want to rest and disconnect from the world. A family of “new inhabitants”  will offer you a delicious lunch. Cooked with organic and local  products, a real delicacy.

After lunch, you’ll return walking to the vehicle and back to Barcelona, approximately at 17:00 .
